The Message Monitor commands allow you to very easily monitor for the sending of any pre-defined message on your system. When the monitored for message is sent you can have a user program called, a message sent to a specific data queue, or a CL command run. You can identify what information about the monitored message should be passed as parameters to the user program, what information about the monitored message should be included in the data queue message sent, and what information about the monitored message should be used as parameter to the CL command to be run.

In addition to monitoring for messages, the Generate Message Monitor Source (GENMSGMXCL) command can be used to create a CL source program that can be used as a starting point when developing the CL program to be called and/or to read the data queue message sent.
